Sunday This'n'That

The first item up is a little Christmas sewing. The president of the quilt guild I belong too posted a photo of a Poinsettia Table Runner. I watched the you tube video and was off and running. I liked it and wanted to make one,  Sandra of mmm!quilts would call this a Dreami!

I decided what size I wanted, cut four of the main fabric, accent or backing and batting. There is a pattern I believe I didn't use it though. Stitched them together, turned, pressed and top stitched. Stitched down the four extra petals and added a decorative button from my assortment of buttons.

We started the morning with a couple hours of freezing rain, this is the view out my sewing room window.

my backyard is all tree
My neighbours huge maple tree came down and the majority of it is in my backyard. We are going to loss our tulip tree as branches and bark were stripped off on both sides of the trunk.

Hope your Sunday is going better than mine.

  1. I am so sorry for this mess! I call this an unforeseen requirement that requires one to pull their hair out and scream! Take care and hope the week brings you some good things! Love the Poinsettia.Hugs

  2. I'd not only be screaming; I'd be bawling. I absolutely LOVE tulip trees, and I've cried a bit over the rabbits that eat my baby one a neighbour gave me a year and a half ago. I think I need to wrap it to protect it this winter from the little uh furry friends... I love that poinsettia centrepiece and I can immediately see how you did it - very cool, a squirrel indeed and still time to link it up in November's linky or save it until December's! We didn't get any of your storm thank goodness though as you know it affected our daughter and grandson's return-to-home flights.

  3. Hi Cindy: I am having to do some catch up here I've already given you my sympathies for the tree. I stayed in all day through the storm. We were supposed to go in to Toronto but changed our minds. The quilting looks great and I love your bowl full of buttons.

  4. Hopping over from the link on Sandra's Dreami post. Oh my, about the tree. I hope the neighbor had the decency to take care of the cleanup. The poinsettia topper is gorgeous.

  5. Hi Cindy! I'm also hopping over from Sandra's post today. Your poinsettia topper is gorgeous. Just the perfect shade of red and the backing looks so nice and complimentary with it. I am sorry about your tree. I've never heard of a tulip tree before - I need to go look it up. Regardless, I hope the neighbor cleaned up the mess their tree caused and maybe even offered to replace your tree? Happy New Year to you. ~smile~ Roseanne

  6. Your poinsettia tablerunner is such a neat design! Thanks for sharing the link to the directions. Hope things are looking better in your yard now than at the beginning of the month!

  7. So sorry about the ice damage. It is so hard to lose a tree! About the poinsettia runner, you had me at “decorative button.” But I also like the 3D effect.

I love comments, however if you don't get a reply back from me it is because you may be a no-reply blogger. Hope you have a great day!
