Black and White Stepping Out

Slow sewing is going to be the norm over the next several months as I deal with a health issue. I am trying to squeeze in a few minutes here and there when possible, as sewing is wonderful therapy.

I have been wanting to make a black and white since forever, well maybe not forever but for a long time. What better quilt to make than using my own pattern from the Quilt Bloggers Blog Hop, you can read about it in this post and also get the free pattern download. You can read about the fabrics I used here.

I am trying to decide on borders. I scanned my fabric and played around in my graphics program with a possible idea of using some flying geese.

flying geese borders
A narrow border of black and white and the flying geese centered on all four sides, and maybe white corners. I really like the blocks and don't want to take away from them.

I am also working on a charity quilt using fabric from my guild plus some of my own additions. You'll have to wait to see it in another post.

Until next time happy quilting!

  1. Much love to you. I hope that the slow stitching is therapeutic and meditative. I like the way you used your block in just black and white!

  2. This is looking fabulous, dahhling! Fab. I loved your block from the get-go, and seeing it in black and white as you had envisioned, but now in a flimsy just makes me grin. I think the flying geese centred on all 4 sides will look good! Think of you often, as you know, and this west wind will blow my warm healing light thoughts up the lake to you that much faster. :-)

  3. Fabulous. I'm planning a black and white quilt too but I may put a slice of colour into it.

  4. Cindy, Stepping Out was perfect for these colors! It looks three dimensional! You amaze me with how much you have been able to get done, despite everything you are going through... Bravo! Love your idea of the flying geese border too!

I love comments, however if you don't get a reply back from me it is because you may be a no-reply blogger. Hope you have a great day!
