A Month Goes By

I know how long it's been since my last post and I am not to going to apologize for the lack thereof I had too much fun. Family comes first and I want to spend as much time enjoying my family as possible. Life is too short not to.
That's not to say I didn't touch my sewing machine just the opposite is true.

a small amount of the fmqing
I have two, both lap size. Yes that's two quilts quilted all on my domestic machines. I will show the BOM for my guild next week, they get first view. The second is a magazine deadline so no pictures just yet.
If you've ever quilted a quilt on your domestic machine you know firsthand how long it can take. But the results are worth it. No edge to edge for me I have tried but the quilt screams NO so what's a quilter to do but listen.

There was also a lot of laughs and fun in my sewing room so much so I forgot to snap pictures as we went.
One of my granddaughters wanted to sew. I was more than happy to oblige. We had to decide on a project she wanted a real project not just learning to sew seams, she choose a placemat. I thought that was a good idea. We got out my box of strips and she picked what colours she liked.
I taught her rotrary cutter safety and she trimmed the strips to 12 1/2'' by 2 1/2'' with a watchful eye from grandma.
She made a quilt as you go carefully placing the strips one at a time.

one very proud little quilter

I am so proud of this girl! But the best was listening to her explain how she made it to her non-sewing mom. There may be hope for her mom yet... wait for it. She went out and bought a pink Splash, a cutting mat and a ruler.

I hope you have had time to see the pleasure and joy in a young face seeing their first project take shape and proudly displaying it to everyone.

An Unscheduled Break

I'm here *Waving wildly* I'm here. Wow it's been a month since my last post, I've been here just dealing with real life.
We took a much needed break and went up North to Killarney to visit our oldest son. It was a well needed time away. His place Avalon Eco Resort, is gorgeous and so peaceful.

peaceful view from the deck

We went kayaking a few times. Enjoyed time with our youngest granddaughter, I had to get in lots of hugs to last until Christmas.

our northern  granddaughter, she loves being outside
I finally got my Pfaff machine back after being in for repairs, this time it was gone for more than 2 months. Unreal! The good news it seems to be working correctly for the first time since I bought it new.
I pulled out my Westalee ruler toe foot and rulers and gave it a bit of a workout. I think I should have made the swirls smaller but other than that I'm happy with it. Now what do I do with this piece?
ruler work and some fmqing

I hope you have been taking some time to enjoy life and the people who are important to you.

Family Fun

Our daughter and son in law were taking their three kids to Marineland in Niagra Falls, Ontario and asked us to go along. We haven't been to Marineland since our kids were younger, that was quite awhile ago. Of course it had to be three H ( hot, hazy and humid) weather. It may have been hot, but we had a great time. We left at 8 am and didn't get home til 8:30 that night. Our granddaughter wanted to see the dolphins, that's all we heard about during the hour and 45 minutes it took to drive there.
The dolphins were wonderful to watch, we had third row center seats allowing us to see the dolphins up close.
Dolphins
The dolphins are part of the King Waldorf Show, which also included the seals and Beluga whales.

King Waldorf Stadium Show.
We also saw the deer and bears and bison and fish. The grandkids fed the bears and the deer.

Of course no amusement park is complete without rides. These were just a few of the rides they went on. Unfortunately I wasn't able to do the rides, but that was fine as I did enjoy watching my 2 year old grandson, while they were doing the rides. His dad tried to take him on one of the rides, but he wanted nothing to do with any of it.

some of the rides
Our oldest grandson and his sister did as many of the rides as they could. Some more than once.

All in all a wonderful way to spend a Sunday. I hope your Sunday was as good as mine.

Have you been to an amusement park this summer?
