I'm Here

I know I haven't posted in a while just dealing with some real life stuff and haven't felt like blogging. Sorry.  I have been sewing and designing, nothing I can show at this time.

I participated in the 30 Quilt Design Challenge hosted by Sandra of mmmquilts. I completed the challenge and won one of the prizes. I won an aluminum back yard quilt by Brenda, of Quilt Designs in the Yard, of one of my designs. Now to decide which design to have made up. Which ever one it is I know I'm going to love seeing it made into a backyard quilt.

My guild is having their quilt show next week. I've been stacking my entries up, wanna see?

I am quilt show committee chair and have been doing a few little things behind the scenes to get ready for the show.

Pictures from Quilt Canada

Quilt Canada was held in Toronto this year at the International Centre. I went on Thursday. Wow! The inspiration, I have a mental list of things I'd like to do and try. The only snag is time, or lack thereof. I know I'm not the only one with this little problem.

Quaker Quilt Guild Quilt Show 2017 is a wrap

After an exhausting 3 days my small guild (30 members) pulled off an incredible show. A lot of time and work goes into a successful show, once the doors opened to the public it soon became apparent that it was well worth the effort put forth by everyone.
The weather was perfect, we had people from various places in the province including Barrie, Toronto, Etobicoke, Hamilton and our local area.

A glimpse of what we had on display follows, this is a non-judged show. We display our quilts in a church on the museum site.

For Canada's 150th we had a display with all the provinces and territories, from coast to coast to coast. This was the guild challenge and was called 'A Road Runs Through'.

I did Manitoba. The dimensions of the road on the sides of mine were 2 1/2'' wide on the left and 3 1/4'' wide on the right.

This is just a small sampling of the many quilts on display. We may be a small guild but as you can see in the photos above we don't lack in talent. 

  

What Suff I've Been up to Lately

No I haven't forgotten about my blog, just been busy doing other stuff...that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Want to see a little of that Stuff?

Well let's see first I've been writing a couple patterns. These flying geese are leftovers from pattern number 1. Sorry that's all you get to see from that one until July 18th, so stayed tuned for it.

The second pattern I'm writing is in the beginning stages, it is one of the designs I made for the 30 Quilt Design Challenge that was hosted by Sandra and Lisa you can read more about it here. Sorry no photos of it just yet.

I'm also working on a new guild BOM for the fall. This is the fabric I will be using for it, Sew Sisters had a sale on Victoria day and I took advantage of it. At a little over $7 a metre I'm sure you would too. 

Talking of sales Craftsy has its classes on for under $20. I love their classes I can play them when I want and watch as many times as I need.

My guild the Quaker Quilt Guild in Norwich, Ontario is having a quilt show on June 9th(12 - 5 PM) and 10th(10 - 4 PM). It is held at the museum at 89 Stover St., the quilts are displayed in the church on site.

Norwich Quilt Show

This is what has been keeping me busy the last few days, my guild had a quilt show. Warning this post is picture heavy. From set up to take down involves hours of work, but it goes quickly when everyone is having fun. I am a member of the Quaker Quilt Guild, we are a small but fun group of ladies. We hold our quilt show in the Norwich museum and the church they have on sight which is a part of the museum. So without further ado I would like to show you what our show looked like.

Colour Challenge

For the colour challenge we were given two paint chips, we could add a neutral or black. Some of the results were stunning. I made the wonky pinwheels in the upper left hand corner. My favorite is the birdhouse with the butterflies on it.

The quilts and wall hangings we displayed in the church. There was string up across the wall and windows. We used clothespins to hang the wall hangings and smaller quilts with.

The quilt on the right is a christmas applique quilt and was a favourite of my granddaughters.

The last picture is from the front of the church. The quilts in the first three pews on the right side are mine. I have posted about the Irish Twist here and Justin's Path the black and red quilt here. I don't have a post about the first one it is a queen size quilt. It started as a 4 patch exchange with some guild members. I had no idea how I was going to use them, this was the result. I do have a picture showing the whole quilt here.

Do you go to quilt shows? Do you prefer smaller shows or do you only go to larger shows or does it matter what size the show is? 

'Pieces of Magic' Quilt show

I went to the Oxford Quilter's Guild quilt show held in Ingersoll, Ontario with a couple friends. What a great way to spend the day! 

There were 306 quilts to oogle over from challenge banners to full size quilts. They had a nice lunch menu of soup, sandwiches and desserts. There were 11 vendors.

I have a few photos to share. I liked the birthday banners, they were part of the banner challenge from members. The numbers on both could be changed to whatever age you would need.

I really liked this crossword/name quilt. What neat idea for an anniversary or special birthday. It must have taken awhile to get the placement of the names just right.

A great scrap busting quilt, it was a Fons and Porter pattern from 2008.

This quilt was so serene. I think it would make a nice low volume quilt.

A couple more favorites, these were wall hangings.

I have a log cabin on my quilty bucket list. I like the layout of this one. The panel in the center surrounded by log cabins then the bear paws.

The guild I belong to is having our show on June 12 & 13 at the Museum in Norwich, Ontario. We display our quilts in the church they have on sight.

Okay time to get off I need to get the binding on my latest quilt and get a label made for it. Hopefully I'll have photos in a day or two.
